One of the concerns that arise from Acne treatment is the thinning and drying of facial epithelium, which can imitate aging. Remember that in addition the antibacterial action of HOCl, it also promotes and accelerates healing of the skin everywhere on the body. There have been many reports of remarkable healing of burns, scrapes, and cuts that seem to disappear in a fraction of the time usually associated with these injuries. With respect to burns caused by cooking accidents or sunburns, not only does the pain and discomfort associated with these injuries abate, but also the redness and blistering seems to heal much more quickly. Much of this is directly attributable to the effects of hypochlorous acid.
In addition to the healing and regrowth powers of HOCl, there is another natural substance that contributes dramatically to the appearance of skin that are affected by Acne and Acne treatments. The substance I am speaking about is hyaluronic acid, which is regarded as a natural humectant. This substance absorbs and holds water to keep the skin hydrated. Hyaluronic acid has been called the body’s “lubricant molecule.” It occurs naturally and abundantly in both humans and animals. You can find it in your joints and connective tissue, and even in your eyes, where it acts as a lubricant and cushioning agent.
The name Hyaluronic Acid sounds like the latest miracle chemical invented in a high tech lab when you first hear it, but Hyaluronic Acid is as natural as can be. Hyaluronic Acid is a glycosaminoglycan, a structural molecule in human skin. Fifty percent of Hyaluronic Acid in humans is located in the skin, with varying amounts in joints, nerves and eyes too. It is manufactured by Hyaluronic Acid synthases, and once in place, controls numerous aspects of wound healing, elasticity, and skin structure. Most important, however, is Hyaluronic Acid’s role in hydration, as a natural humectant. In addition to holding water in the skin, hyaluronic acid smooths the surface of the skin giving it a natural “glow”.
It has now been realized that certain strains of Propionibacterium Acnes (p. acnes), the classic “acne bacteria” are far more destructive than others. These malicious bacteria known as p.acnes subtype 1a secretes more lipases which breakdown fats in the skin and produce inflammatory by-products. These deadly strains have more antigens in their cell walls, compounds that are targeted by your immune system’s inflammatory agents. When compared to beneficial strains, malicious p.acnes strains secrete much more hyaluronidase. This is a natural enzyme for breaking down Hyaluronic Acid, normally to replace it, but some cases this does not happen which results in a net loss of Hyaluronic Acid and beneficial attributes.
Fortunately, Curativa Bay makes a superior quality, botanically derived concentrated blend of Hyaluronic Acid referred to as Advanced Hyaluronic Acid Serum. This botanical Hyaluronic Acid is derived from a high molecular weight polysaccharide from the seeds of the Indian plant Cassia Angustifolia. These polysaccharides form a protective film on the skin that strongly binds water and fills up fine lines. By providing intense hydration, the skin is additionally plumped up, which helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and aids in smoothing of the skin surface. Because of the smoother surface, light reflection is improved, leading to increased skin radiance for a fresher, younger, firmer, brighter complexion.
